Men’s South & Kent League update

22/11/2020 12:01

To all Kent hockey clubs, re Men’s senior hockey fixtures.

The South Hockey League (SHL) has decided that it will take the following approach to reschedule Men’s fixtures in the event of the Government & England Hockey (EH) allowing a return to league hockey on 05-Dec.  This is one of many possible scenarios, and is only being communicated now as it is the one that would require the earliest action.

Men’s SHL matches in Dec 2020 have been (re-)scheduled as follows:

·         05-Dec: the original fixtures for that date

·         12-Dec: fixtures originally scheduled for 14-Nov

·         19-Dec: fixtures originally scheduled for 07-Nov

Note that the sequence for the rearranged fixtures has been reversed to maintain the H-A-H-A pattern of home and away matches, as far as possible.

Any matches that had previously been rescheduled to the December slip dates will now need to be rearranged for different dates, so that we can plan a full programme on 12-Dec & 19-Dec.

While SHL has already taken action to update the SHL website with revised fixture dates, Fixtures Live will not be updated for Kent Open League matches until more details have been disseminated by EH; though, in the event of our returning to league hockey on 05-Dec, the same approach will be adopted as for SHL fixtures.

With a Government announcement expected early in the week, we will soon know whether this scenario is viable.  Planning for other scenarios will be deferred until more details are known.

We will continue to update you as information becomes available and decisions are made.

Best regards

Kent Hockey Committee
