In the 1970s, Dick Laslett let the development of Polo Farm from a converted council rubbish tip to an established hockey venue in Kent

Canterbury Hockey Club have recorded the death of Dick Laslett on 29th June.

Dick became a member of Canterbury HC at the age of 17, becoming 1st XI captain in 1962 until 1969.

He was elected as Vice Chairman in 1972 before being elected as Chairman in 1977 for 10 years.

He also served on the Kent Hockey Association Committee from 1977 for over 20 years, including a period as President.

The KHA Management Committee pass on their condolences to his family and to all at Canterbury HC.

Dick was awarded the MBE in November 2009, for outstanding achievement and service to the community.
