Covid-19 – All Academy Centre Activity Suspended

16/03/2020 21:38

Following Government advice today England Hockey have amended their guidelines for playing hockey.  The consequence of this is that, regrettably,  all AC activity (i.e. Kent training and matches) will be suspended until at least the 15th April.

I am in consultation with the South Hockey Association who manage the Junior County Championship and we (along with my counterparts in the other counties) are looking at options and possibilities.

At present the situation remains fluid and it is difficult to know when hockey activity can restart.  While I am optimistic that we may able to continue the competition on the 15th April; I remain realistic that this date may need to be extended.

I will, once the picture is clearer,  let you know the outcome including any ramification on the fees that you have paid.

If there are any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your AC Manager, the Player Pathway Administrator ( or myself (

Thanks for your support,

Tom Hamilton

Kent Vice President – Junior Hockey

The England Hockey Statement in Full:

In light of the ongoing effects of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and government advice, England Hockey has taken the decision to suspend its nationally run hockey activity.

This includes our competition and domestic events programme, Player Pathway activity and national youth programmes until at least 15 April. We have already issued an update with regards to our AGM on 17 March.

We would urge leagues, clubs, schools, Player Pathway centres and others who deliver hockey on a local level to support this approach.

This decision will impact activities at differing levels and scale. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and react as best we can during these unprecedented times. We’ll keep everyone in the hockey family as up to date as possible and look forward to hockey returning to normal when the time is right.
