Dear Kent hockey community,
In over 40 years in hockey I have never experienced a season cut short in such an unprecedented way. I am sure some of you have been affected by COVID and may have lost family and friends for which I am truly sorry.
I wanted to let you know that the Kent Hockey Management Association are meeting virtually on a regularly basis to discuss and react to the changing world of hockey at this difficult time.
You will probably be aware that England Hockey has not yet set a provisional date for their AGM – this has to be held as a face to face meeting. Work is starting as if the AGM Proposals have been passed by the AGM as they wish to keep to the timetable set – however the work will discontinue if the Proposals are rejected.
Kent intends to hold its AGM in early September and we are discussing how this may work with social distancing still likely to be in effect. We will provide more details soon.
We have closed the leagues with the men’s leagues following the South guidance and ladies following the East. Promotions and relegations have been decided and will be communicated very soon.
Following the Government’s easing of Lockdown, England Hockey has published its 5 stage proposal and options for timings for the 20/21 season. We will be discussing these and will take them into account when organising next season.
In other news, Charles Darby, County Treasurer, is preparing to invoice clubs for affiliation fees and Tom Hamilton and Dave Parsons, the Player Pathway leads, are looking at how to prepare for the new season for junior hockey. School competitions are also being considered.
We are now meeting monthly and our next meeting is in early June. We will post any new information on our website, Twitter and Facebook.
If you have any questions or concerns, please complete the form below, and a member of the Committee will get back to you after the next meeting.
I hope you and your families remain safe and healthy.
Kent President On behalf of the KHA
