Dear Secretary/Club Representative

We have come to the end of another great season of hockey and my first as League Secretary.  Please pass this information to the relevant members of your club.

1.     Final Results for Season 2016/17

Attached.

2.     League Divisions for Season 2017/18

Congratulations to Sevenoaks 3 on being promoted to East Division 2 (SE) and commiserations to Blackheath 1 who have been relegated back to Kent Premier.

Promotions – Apart from promotions to the East League, there have been two teams promoted from each Kent Division.

Relegations –There will be two teams relegated from Premier Division down to Division 5.

Marden Russets have requested to enter a 3rd XI in Division 5, this is likely to mean increasing the number of games played unless any teams drop out.  Any more requests to enter a team or leave the league should be made in writing to me by 31st May.  Once the Division is finalised the league dates for Division 5 will be issued.

As ever the above maybe subject to change depending on teams entering or leaving the Kent Leagues.

3.     Junior Leagues

Final placings to be advised.  They will be published on the Kent Website shortly.

4.     League dates & fixtures for 2016/17

These dates will appear on Fixtures Live in the next few weeks.  The first league game is on Saturday 16th September 2017.  As before Division 5 to be confirmed.

5.     Kent Cup Finals Day and League Presentations

These will take place on Sunday 14th May at Kent Cup Finals Day at Folkestone Hockey Club.  The presentations will be made by Lorraine Bant, Vice President Kent Hockey at 1.30pm.   All league winners should attend to be presented with cups and hockey balls to celebrate their promotions.

Kent Cup finals day is chance for the Kent Hockey Community to come together and celebrate Kent Hockey and all support is welcome.

Timings are as follows: –

2.00           Ladies Cup Final

3.30           Men’s League Presentations

4.00           Men’s Cup Final

Pitch 2

10.30         Ladies Vase Final

1.00           Junior Competitions

Please see the Kent website for details.

6.     Kent Hockey Association AGM

This will be held on Thursday 18th May at Maidstone Hockey Club at 7.30pm.  To have your say and vote on any relevant issues please send a representative.

7.     Umpires 17/18

Please remember that teams must register a qualified umpire (Level 1 or above) via the KHUA before the start of the season.  Teams in East Divisions 1 & 2 and Kent Premier are required to put an umpire in the Kent Umpiring pool per team or each league game.

A decision was taken last season not to appointment KHUA umpires to Division 1 allowing clubs to provide their own.  This will continue for season 17/18.  Please try and use the summer to get your umpires qualified.

8.     Division Representatives

The Div Reps and I will be meeting in early June to review the season and discuss the next one please let them have any questions or issues you want raised.   Due to Kathy Osborne’s retirement from hockey we are looking for a new Division Representative for Division 2.  If you love a bit of admin and would like to volunteer, please send me an email outlining why you would like to volunteer and what you can bring to the role by 31st May 17.  nicolawilkes99@icloud.com

9.     Finally, if you have any thoughts on how to improve ladies’ hockey in Kent please let me know.

Have a restful summer and enjoy your break.
