Sad News – Colin Brine

The funeral of Colin Brine will take place at 14.30 on Wednesday 22nd February at Eltham Crematorium. The address of the Crematorium is Crown Woods Way, London SE9 2AZ. (Please note there is no direct access from the A2).

The family invite friends to then join them in the Pavilion at Bexleyheath Sports Cub, which is the home of BBHC. Their address is Park View Road, Welling, Kent DA16 1SY and is situated next to Welling United F.C.

The family of Colin Brine would prefer flower tributes only from the family but anyone wishing to donate to their chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, can do so by sending cheques, payable to the charity, to the Funeral Directors, Co-operative Funeralcare, 91-93 Lowfield Street, Dartford, Kent DA1 1HP indicating that the donation is in memory of Colin Brine.

COLIN BRINE

It is with great sadness that the Association has learned of the death of Colin Brine.

He passed away on Wednesday 25th January 2012 following a period of time where he fought against cancer.

Colin was a Honorary Vice President of this Association and a Past President of SCHUA.

In his long Hockey career he was initially a goalkeeper who subsequently took up umpiring. He umpired in the London League in its heyday and then in the National League at the time of its formation. He also umpired and coached in the South as well as in this County for many years before ‘retiring’ from the Sport. However, he was then regularly seen at the BBHC club where, until recently, he was very much involved in the running of the Bexleyheath Sports Club.

Colin leaves a widow, Chris, a son, Iain, and a Daughter, Sarah to whom we wish to pass on our condolences at this sad time along with his other family and friends.

We will provide details of the funeral arrangements as soon as we are advised of them.

This can include club open days, meetings, selection, important games, competitions etc.

Mini Hockey

I would like to tie up the entries for both the club and the school mini competitions as the organisers would like to plan the events.

The School Under 11 event needs someone who is able to look after the arrangements for the day. Kent College have offered a pitch but are unable to organise the event. They are already looking after the Under 13′s which I appreciate.

The Club Minis is currently planned to take place at Canterbury, subject to confirmation.

Please check on the entry page whether your school / club has in fact entered. If you still wish to enter please do so without delay.

South U14 Boys Heats on Tues 6th March 2012 – 10am to 3pm – Surbiton HC & Woking HC

South U16 Boys Heats on Thur 8th March 2012 – 10am to 3pm – Venues TBC

South U18 Boys Heats on Tues 13th March 2012 – 10am to 3pm – Venues TBC

South U14 Boys Twilight Finals: Thurs 15th March 2012 – 3pm to 6pm – Venues TBC

South U16/U18 Boys Twilight Finals: Weds 21st March 2012 – 12pm to 6pm – Tonbridge School
